TLDR: We made a Seed People Network. It costs nothing to join. No commissions etc. Just a useful thing for Calgary gardeners we think.
Oki doki, following on from the last post we now have a properly built website in place, now we need some content and a reason for existence other than to sell stuff. So without further ado please be beholding our spanking new Seed People Network.
Everybody that grows plants regularly knows the value of seeds, they don’t last forever for starters so you need to keep growing them. That in itself is reason enough to have a seed network in my opinion but in today’s world of ever increasing agricultural corporatization the rarer but medicinally or nutritionally extremely valuable seed lines that have existed for millennia in the wild are becoming even rarer.
We always have people popping in to the store asking if we sell certain kinds of seeds but it can be tricky to have a continuous supply via traditional business routes and suppliers are of course less interested in the rarer varieties. So yeh, we thought we would use our swanky new website type thingy to address this lil problem, locally at least.
It costs nothing to register, we don’t want any kind of commission etc, this is purely a connecting method for people that want to buy, sell or trade seeds. Members post what seeds they have available, their contact information and a picture or two because it looks nice. From that point on anyone anywhere can type in whatever seed they are looking for and if someone out there has some, up they pop. Magic.
This website is still and probably always will be a work in progress. More goodies incoming sometime soon.
